Since 2007, similar campaigns have been conducted in 307 cities in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Northern Ireland, and Denmark.

The blessings from these campaigns over the last three years include:
- participation by 350,000 in some way and at least 11,500 churches
- reports documenting 2,811 lives that have been spared from abortion
- 35 abortion workers that quit their jobs and walked away from the abortion industry

Here are the three components to the 40 Days for Life campaign:
1. Prayer and Fasting — 40 days of fervent prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.
2. Peaceful vigil — of people making a 40-day public witness outside one or more abortion facilities.
3. Community outreach — Helping to take a positive, upbeat pro-life message to
every corner of the city through media efforts, advocacy, and public visibility.

A number of organizations are conducting events calling the nation to prayer in the late summer and fall, including the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB).

They are issuing a call to God's people to devote ourselves to 40 days of earnest, soul-searching prayer for the revival of our souls and the life of the nation beginning September 1, 2010.
